दुसऱ्या गटाचा ‘Adverb Clause of Condition’
इंग्रजी व्याकरणातील Complex Sentence (कॉम्प्लेक्स सेन्टेन्स) मध्ये जे गौणवाक्य adverb म्हणून वापरलेले असते, त्याला Adverb Clause (ऍड्व्हर्ब क्लॉज्) म्हणजेच क्रियाविशेषणवाचक गौणवाक्य असे म्हणतात.
अशा Adverb Clause चा उपयोग वाक्यामध्ये जेव्हा एखादी अट दर्शविण्यासाठी केलेला असतो, तेव्हा त्या Adverb Clause ला Adverb Clause of Condition (ऍड्व्हर्ब क्लॉज् ऑफ कंडीशन) म्हणजेच अटवाचक क्रियाविशेषणात्मक गौणवाक्य असे म्हणतात.
दुसऱ्या गटाच्या Adverb Clause of Condition मध्ये कुठलेही Subordinating Conjunction वापरलेले नसते.
Adverb Clause of Condition – Second Group
दुसऱ्या गटाच्या Adverb Clause of Condition ची रचना नेहमी एखाद्या Complex Sentence मध्ये वापरलेली असते.
इंग्रजी व्याकरणामधील ही एक विशिष्ट रचना असून तिचा उपयोग “जर एखादी गोष्ट...असती तर...झाले असते” असा अर्थ दर्शविण्यासाठी केला जातो. प्रत्यक्षात मात्र ती घटना घडलेली नसते हे लक्षात घ्यावे.
या रचनेमधील Subordinating Clause ची सुरूवात ही नेहमी had, did किंवा were यांपैकी एखाद्या Primary Auxiliary Verb ने केलेली असते.
या रचनेमध्ये वापरलेले Primary Auxiliary Verb हे नेहमी Past Tense चे असते.
For example (उदाहरणार्थ),
- Had I not seen this with my own eyes, I would not have believed it.
- जर हे मी स्वतःच्या डोळ्यांनी पहिले नसते, तर त्यावर मी विश्वास ठेवला नसता.
या Complex Sentence मध्ये ‘Had I not seen this with my own eyes’ या संपूर्ण शब्दसमूहाचा उपयोग Adverb of Condition म्हणून केलेला आहे.
