Compound Preposition 'against'

against (अगेन्स्ट) हे एक Compound Preposition आहे.

Compound Preposition म्हणून वापरताना इंग्रजी व्याकरणामध्ये against चा उपयोग पुढीलपैकी एक अर्थ दर्शविण्यासाठी केला जातो.

against = विरुद्ध

For example (उदाहरणार्थ),

Example 1

• He met them against his will.
• तो त्यांना त्याच्या इच्छेविरुद्ध भेटला.

Example 2

• India will win the first match against England.
• इंग्लंडविरुद्धचा पहिला सामना भारत जिंकेल.

against = वर (टेकून, खेटून)

For example (उदाहरणार्थ),

Example 1

• He was leaning against the wall.
• तो भिंतीवर झुकला होता.
• तो भिंतीला टेकून उभा होता.

Example 2

• She was sitting against the window.
• ती खिडकीवर (खिडकीला टेकून) बसली होती.

against = वर (..च्या पार्श्वभूमीवर, ..च्या वर उठून)

For example (उदाहरणार्थ),

Example 1

• The trees looked dark against the morning sky.
• सकाळच्या आकाशावर झाडे गडद दिसत होती.
• सकाळच्या आकाशातील रंगांच्या पार्श्वभूमीवर झाडे गडद दिसत होती.

Example 2

• It is difficult to talk against this noise.
• या आवाजावर (आवाजाच्या वर उठून) बोलणे कठीण आहे.
