toward किंवा towards

Compound Preposition 'toward' किंवा 'towards'

toward (टोवर्ड) किंवा towards (टोवर्ड्स) हे एक Compound Preposition आहे.

toward आणि towards या दोन शब्दांमध्ये फक्त एका S या अक्षराचा फरक आहे. मात्र, या दोन्हीही शब्दांचा अर्थ सारखाच आहे.

Compound Preposition म्हणून वापरताना इंग्रजी व्याकरणामध्ये toward किंवा towards चा उपयोग पुढील अर्थ दर्शविण्यासाठी केला जातो.

towards = कडे (..च्या दिशेने)

• गाडी स्थानकाकडे (स्थानकाच्या दिशेने) येत होती.

• तो दरवाज्याकडे (दरवाजाच्या दिशेने) वळला.

towards = ..च्या हेतूने (..च्या दृष्टीने)

• माझ्या उच्च शिक्षणासाठी (उच्च शिक्षणाच्या हेतूने) मी पैसे साठवायला सुरूवात केली आहे.

towards = जवळ, आसपास (जरा अगोदर)
